Budapest
Budapest straddles a gentle curve in the Danube. It has broad avenues, leafy parks and elaborate bathhouses. The city also has a turn-of-the-century feel to it, for it was then - during the industrial boom and the capital's heyday - that most of the city was built. With its incredible architecture and rich cultural heritage, multifarious and often embittered history, Hungary's capital deserves its reputation as the 'Paris of Eastern Europe'. It has a complex identity, somewhere between Western luxury and simple traditions.

Pecs
Located 200 km south of Budapest, not too far from the borders of Croatia and Serbia, Pécs is a small, little-known pearl of a city: a two-thousand year old gem which has been named European Capital of Culture 2010.
Protected by mountains from north winds, Pécs (PEH-tch) makes the most of its Mediterranean climate.
A youthful and dynamic city with a sizable student population, Pécs has a thriving musical and contemporary art scene along with a highly impressive historical legacy.
Pécs, with Hungary’s second highest student population after Budapest, has a broad variety of bars, music cafés and, as in the capital, courtyards of unoccupied buildings which have been transformed into nightlife hotspots.

Gyor
The city of Gyor is located at the confluence of three rivers, the Mosoni-Duna (a branch of the Danube), Rába and Rábca, which flow through the low-lying areas of the charming old quarter, Gyor’s main area of interest. Wander around Széchenyi square and explore the Pharmacy Museum, St Ignatius church (1635-41), the Abbot’s House with its exhibition about the history of the city, and the Iron Stump House (Vastuskós Ház).

Eger
Eger lies at the southern slopes of the Bükk Mountains 130 km from Budapest. Eger is an historic city and an historic wine region. Also called the city of wine, it is a renowned health-resort.
The town’s hero is none other than the captain István Dobó who fended off the assault of 100,000 Turks in 1552. According to the legend, the 2000 Hungarian soldiers who defended Eger were assisted by their wives who threw boiling oil on the assailants. In particular István Dobó gave his men the full-bodied Eger wine to drink giving a red hue to their beards and faces. This made the Sultan's men think the Hungarians were drawing their strength from drinking bull’s blood! So the name “Bull’s Blood”, egri bikavér in Hungarian, has remained and Eger’s wine still carries the name to this very day.
