Sitges - Sitges is not like other Mediterranean hot spots. Twenty miles along the craggy coast from Barcelona, this unspoilt seaside town, with its style, culture and élan, instantly stands out from the overdeveloped resorts along the Costa Daurada.
A former fishing village with wending streets, a compact old town and a mellow vibe, it has a population of 25,000, which swells to more than 100,000 in summer. “Barcelona-on-sea” is where rich Catalans come to tan. With miles of meticulously raked beaches, slo-mo charm and a metropolitan heartbeat, it is a jet-set favourite, too. Home to some of the country’s ritziest real estate, it earns its tag as the St Tropez of Spain.

Castelldefels - Castelldefels beach is a long expanse of fine sand situated some 18 km to the south of the city of Barcelona and between two well differentiated natural systems: the delta of the River Llobregat, with its wetlands and cane thickets and limestone Massif of Garraf. You can do water sports, bathe or calmly take the sun. Castelldefels beach has 25 accesses, which all together make up one kilometer of wooden walkway (one of these has been adapted for the disabled).
Castelldefels beach was awarded the selective eco-label, the Blue Flag.

Restaurants

L’Aixeta (Passeig de Vilafranca 4, Sitges)
an inexpensive tapas restaurant that serves tasty mini dishes from around the Catalan region. Make sure you order xató, a traditional salad with salted cod, tuna and anchovies topped with romesco sauce, and finish with a snifter of Malvasia de Sitges, the local dessert wine.

Al Fresco (Carrer Pau Barrabeitg 4, Sitges)
which is consistently rated as one of the best restaurants Sitges has to offer. The extensive menu is a globe-trotting affair, with French influences and nods to Australian and North African cuisine – all served in a loungy, Gaudí-esque courtyard.
