Every year on 20 January (the feast of Saint Sebastian), the people of the city of San Sebastián celebrate a festival known as the "Tamborrada". At midnight, in the Konstituzio Plaza in the "Alde Zaharra/Parte Vieja" (Old Part), the mayor raises the flag of San Sebastián. For 24 hours, day and night, the entire city is awash with the sound of drums. The adults, dressed as cooks and soldiers, march in different companies across various parts of the city with different schedules. The celebration finishes at midnight when the city flag is lowered at different spots, while the main meeting point remains the Konstituzio Plaza. More From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Las Fallas - Hotels Valencia It takes place in March and is intended as a tribute to St. Joseph, patron saint of the carpenters' guild, where - it is said - the tradition arose from. The basis of the fiesta, as is well-known, is the "Fallas" monuments. In a display of art, though also of irony and humour, they are exhibited in the streets during Fallas week, between the 15th and 19th of March. On the last day, at midnight, they are set on fire and burn in immense, spectacularly beautiful pyres. The Fallas are not just that, though. During the fiesta days - and even weeks beforehand - the streets are alive with fireworks displays, music bands, artistic lighting, street performances, parades... El Rocio - Hotels El Rocio This festival is little known outside Spain yet it is the country's biggest pilgrimage (romeria) in which over a million people make their way on foot and on horseback to the shrine of 'La Virgen del Rocio' which lies on the edge of the Doñana national park in the province of Huelva (Hotels Province Huelva). The festival usually takes place at the end of May and lasts for three days. There's a wide variety of performances including some superb Spanish guitar music which is performed in the beautiful Generalife Gardens. Although the main events are held in the Alhambra grounds, there are more shows taking place in churches and clubs throughout the city including jazz shows, classical performances and an interesting variety of other world musical styles.
