Hanoi
Hanoi is one of Southeast Asia's most elegant cities, deftly blending elements of old Vietnam with strong currents of modernism. Local cafés have a hint of Parisian grace; homemade bia hoi beer is sold from both hawker stalls and high-end restaurants; and motorbikes weave through a maze of streets in the old quarter. Whether it's strolling along the banks of Lake Hoan Kiem or pausing to reflect on a millennium-old pagoda, Hanoi is the type of city that encourages visitors to slow down and enjoy their holiday.

Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)
Ho Chi Minh City – also known as Saigon – is the largest city in Vietnam and it sits on the banks of the Saigon River.
Owing to former French occupation, the city was once referred to as the Pearl of the East (or the Paris of the East) and architectural remnants of its colonial past remain. Most notably, the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Saigon Opera House, both located in District 1 – the city center. A lot of HCMC's tourist attractions are historical, and many of them focus on the Vietnam War – known as the American War to locals. Reunification Palace, commonly known as Independence Palace, is a restored five-floor building largely unchanged from when the North Vietnamese army crashed through the gates and took control of the city.

Phan Thiet
One of Vietnam’s most important fishing villages, Phan Thiet is surrounded by the South China Sea and is approximately 200 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City.
Developed in the mid-90’s as a tourist stop, the area is the kite-surfing and water sports capital of Vietnam. Being a coastal city, there is no dearth of beaches, with some of the most beautiful stretches found nearby to many of the varied Phan Thiet accommodations. Tourists flock to the Mue Ne Beaches and the Mui Ne sand dunes, which are about 20 kilometers from the city. Bai Rang or Rang Beach is the most beautiful of all and described by the locals as “nestled in the middle of coconut palm forest”. This beach is also home to the landmarks Da Ong Dia or the “boulders of the Earth God”, and Suoi Tien the “celestial stream”.

Hoi An
One of Vietnam's most charming cities, Hoi An is brimming with historic architecture. It was built here on the Thu Bon riverside between the 15th and 19th centuries and owes its dynamic, multicultural character to the early success of its trading port. The level of preservation here isn't common in Vietnam, with a vibrant collection of cafés, museums and Hoi An hotels housed in restored heritage buildings.
Days can be split between touring the heritage buildings and heading to Hoi An Beach, where upscale resorts on the beach front are increasingly common.

Danang
Danang has been an important Vietnamese city since the days of its traditional port. Even today, it's a thriving economic hub that oversees much of the commerce here in central Vietnam. It's a city often overlooked by tourists in favor of Hoi An and Hué despite the fact that it has plenty allure of its own.
Danang is on the cusp of something great. The entire city is investing in itself as a number ongoing beautification projects are joined with heavy-handed business development.

Phu Quoc Island
This little-known island off the coast of Vietnam has some of the country's best beaches amid a beautiful tropical setting.
The interior of Phu Quoc Island comprises jungle-covered mountains that offer many scenic attractions, including verdant hiking trails and sparkling streams and waterfalls. Though most visitors are here to relax on the beach, a day out in the mountains is highly recommended.
Phu Quoc Island offers a wide variety of fresh seafood. Compared to the more well-known South East Asian islands, Phu Quoc remains relatively undeveloped and will appeal to travelers looking for a quiet holiday on an unspoiled beach.

| Despite its ongoing economic
liberalization and the pressures of rapid development, this dignified
country has managed to preserve its rich civilization and highly cultured
society.
It has discarded its post-war fatigues and the boom in budget travelling,
coupled with the softening of government control, have enabled more
contemporary and relevant portraits of the country to gain currency in the
West.
The country has three distinct areas: north, central,
and south. The north is known for its alpine peaks, the Red River Delta, the
plains of Cao Bang and Vinh Yen, enchanting Halong Bay, and historic Hanoi.
Central Vietnam is characterized by high temperate plateaus rich in volcanic
soil and by spectacular beaches, dunes, and lagoons. It is also the location
of the ancient imperial city of Hue. In the South, visitors encounter modern
life in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon) and the fertile delta of the
Mekong River. In addition, Vietnam has a large continental shelf and an
archipelago of islands. more.... |
